Many new sellers who want to amake money on eBay can become caught up in the moment when something unexpected happens to their eBay business. They may react to that unexpected incident in a way that results in them making moves that will actually injure their business. The injury might last for many months to come. It might also be so bad that it injures the business permanently.



Often the unexpected event will involve money. It might be a mistake in the listing so that no minimum price was established. It might be a mistake in the shipping calculation that results in a significant increase in the cost of shipping. Usually it involves unexpected costs that the new business person will find difficult to handle.



It is worth noting that there are unscrupulous sellers. They are dishonest not by accident, but by intent. There is nothing that some of these sellers won’t do to amake money on eBay. They will go to great lengths to take advantage of the unsuspecting. Don’t get labeled as an unscrupulous seller because of a mistake. The negative feedback that you will receive will be crippling to your future sales.



Know all of the eBay policies and guidelines. Adhere to those policies and guidelines. Establish your own code of conduct. Never compromise your code of conduct even when you have made a mistake or an unexpected turn of events may mean that you don’t amake money on eBay for that transaction.



Set your goals. Be known as an honest seller who can be trusted. Think about the long term whenever you are tempted to react to a problem. Don’t let the frustrations associated with that moment damage your business. Don’t let the frustrations of the moment damage your ability to amake money on eBay for the long term.
